History of the Institute

The second nuclear weapon center of the Soviet Union (currently RFNC-VNIITF) was established in April 1955 to facilitate nuclear weapons development, create a backup option in case of a new war, and provide competitive environment for operations of the two centers.

History of VEI - the branch of VNIITF

In October 1921, at the suggestion of MVTU professor K.A. Krug and under the auspices of V.I. Lenin the first Russian Electrotechnical Institute was organized, which is known now as «All-Russia Electrotechnical Institute named after V.I. Lenin» (VEI).
