Mikhail E. ZHELEZNOV

Ph.D. in Economics (2001). Honored Economist of the Russian Federation (2002).
Honorary citizen of Snezhinsk (2015).

Born on June 15, 1957 in Dzerzhnisk.

Mikhail E. Zheleznov graduated from Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (MEPhI) in 1984 with specialization in “Mechanical engineering technology, metal-cutting equipment and tools” and Ural Polytechnic Institute named after S.M. Kirov in 1988 with specialization in “Economics and industrial engineering”.

In 1976-2005 he worked at RFNC – VNIITF as assistant engineer, press operator, foreman, senior foreman, process engineer, deputy head of department, Assistant Director for finance and labor management relations, and finally Deputy Director for finance and economics.

In 2005-2012 Mikhail Zheleznov was Mayor of Snezhinsk.

Since April 23, 2012 he served as the RFNC-VNIITF First Deputy Director.

On June 1, 2012 he was appointed as RFNC-VNIITF Acting Director, then since October 30, 2012 he has been RFNC-VNIITF Director.

Mikhail Zheleznov was awarded the Order of Friendship (2007), the Second Class Badge of Merit “Academician I. V. Kurchatov” (2007), the anniversary medal “65 Years of Nuclear Industry of Russia” (2010), the Badge of Merits to Chelyabinsk Region (2012), the medal of the Second Class Order of Merits to the Homeland (2013), the First Class Badge of Merit  “Academician I.V. Kurchatov” (2015),  the anniversary medal “70 Years of Nuclear Industry of Russia” (2015), the Badge of Merit “E. P. Slavsky” (2017), and the Order of Alexander Nevsky (2017).

Georgy N. RYKOVANOV

Theoretical physicist, Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics (1998), corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Science (2003), member of the Russian Academy of Science (2011). Honorary citizen of Snezhinsk (2018).

Born on February 9, 1954 in Vologda.

Georgy N. Rykovanov graduated from Moscow Engineering Physical Institute (MEPhI) in 1977 and began his career at All-Union Scientific Research Institute for Instrumentation (currently Federal State Unitary Enterprise «Russian Federal Nuclear Center - Zababakhin All-Russia Research Institute of Technical Physics», RFNC-VNIITF).

In 1995, Georgy N. Rykovanov was appointed as Head of Theoretical Division, and in 1996 promoted to Deputy Scientific Director - Head of Theoretical Division. He became the First Deputy Director - First Deputy Scientific Director - Head of Theoretical Division in 1998.

Later that year he was appointed as RFNC-VNIITF Director. In 2007-2012 he served as RFNC-VNIITF Director and Scientific Director. Since June 1, 2012 he has been RFNC-VNIITF Scientific Director.
The area of his scientific interests involves hydrodynamic phenomena, theory of turbulence, detonation theory, thermonuclear fusion physics, and extreme states of materials. He is the author of the well-known empirical model of low-sensitive explosive detonation kinetics.

Georgy N. Rykovanov is a co-author of numerous scientific publications. He was two-time laureate of state prizes (2002, and 2009). He was also awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor (1985), Forth Class Order of Merits to the Homeland (2005), the Badge of Merits to Chelyabinsk Region (2004), the First Class Badge of Merit “Academician I.V. Kurchatov” (2008), the medal of Merit for emergency response and recovery, the golden medal in memory of Academician S.V. Vonsovsky (2019), and the Badge of Merit “75 Years of Nuclear Industry of Russia” (2020).
